Tips for Preventing Alzheimer’s

In honor of our Squeeze episode this week, we wanted to share some quick tips for Alzheimer's prevention. Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that destroys the memory, yet leading a healthy lifestyle and some other things can help reduce your risk of this disease!

We hope you can find these tips helpful to your journey in prevention…

  • Maintain a healthy and balanced diet

    • Try to incorporate 5 servings of fruits and vegetables into your diet each day.

  • Lead a physically active lifestyle

    • It is recommended that adults get a minimum of 150 minutes of physical activity each week in addition to 2 days of strength activity. 

  • Get enough sleep

    • It is recommended that adults get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. 

  • Do not smoke

    • Avoiding smoking not only improves your quality of life, but it can also add as much as 10 years to your life.

  • Keep alcohol to a minimum

    • According to the CDC: “Guidelines for Americans recommends that adults of legal drinking age can choose not to drink, or to drink in moderation by limiting intake to 2 drinks or less in a day for men and 1 drink or less in a day for Women”
